it's a boy!

we're new parents this evening! it's a gorgeous baby boy! he still doesn't have a name because the three of us are fighting over what his name will be. i say "bizhan deux"(in a sweet voice), bunny says "orange creme-o"("...and don't get him confused with what you guys are calling him"), and bubbie says "digiorno". lol, who knew naming a new kitten could excite such upset!
uhh ohh, bubbie has just come into our bedroom and it's definitively~bizhan (part deux)! we had another bizhan but he ran away when he went into heat. i totally understood, who could be a house cat when the tom in you calls you to the streets?! rofl!
so let me describe bizhan(part deux) to you! he's about 5 weeks and pretty good size too! he's obviously orange tabby(his ears and tail are a very faint orange tabby striping) and i believe a persian or something like that (that's why bizhan, a persian story prince's name, is perfect) because he is fluffy with eyes a blue so blue! (i love that story, my niece katie was in a dance dedicated to retelling that story through dance)
i totally fell in love immediately when i saw him! and here i thought i was going to be writing about being grandparents soon(we'd been thinking memphis was pregnant~and she's not even a year yet~she likes to play outside with miabella. i only let them out at night because i think they have more fun at night). mia is fixed but memphis isn't~so far it hasn't been a problem. but who knows with a new little boy in the house.
so how did miabella and memphis react to a new little brother in the house? well, mia sniffed him and got close but as he crawled toward her she hissed and ran downstairs. memphis sniffed him for about 1 second and started hissing and growling. i guess she doesn't like not being the baby any longer! ;0)
oh my, it's like i'm a married "old spinster" with a house full of cats now! when bunny goes to work and millE to school it's just going to be me and the kitties. i'm so in love with bizhan i have to be careful i don't turn into one of those hoarders i see on animal precinct (on animal planet) by adding to my "collection". hee!hee!
well, i'll take a pic and post it tomorrow. stay tuned for a june near you!
thanks for reading!
abrazos,
bella
p.s. millE just announced that we(me and bunny) are not "proud parents". we're "proud grandparents" because in her words "he's my baby!"
p.s.s. i know it's naughty to have babies that are not spayed/neutered, but i promise you we'll get both of them fixed. i really don't believe in homeless pets that have to get euthanized! so stay tuned to find out about the surgeries!

goody goody gumdrops!

why goody goody gumdrops?! because: 1. i finished all eight 3x3 cards for the first swap. 2. i changed the settings on my cellphone camera and the pictures i took of them came out tons better( but you can be the judge). 3. i got all of the cards mailed out today! 4. well, of course, i'm getting bellas soon! :0)

now i'm off to make 7 thank you cards for millE's jr. high teachers! happy crafting and thanks for looking!

cheeeeeese!

i have a huge cheesy grin today! you're never going to guess why~so i'll just tell you! i bought 4 bellas today(i've been selling my new and used stamp sets to other ctmh consultants to get $ for more stamps)! yes, i know, you're as excited as i am! i'll tell you, it's like anticipating the birth of one's baby~the waiting for the brown truck to roll up to the door and give you your box of sweetness! ups is the only stork that will be delivering things to my house, so i'm sooo excited when i get my quantum view notification from ctmh that i have a "new baby" coming soon!
now, i'll have my "adopted sweeties" from stamping bella! i'm expecting my bellas 10 june and i'm so giddy i don't know what to do with myself! other than me, myself and i~these are my first bellas!
i cannot wait to create! now i won't have to drool, ooh, ahh, and ohhh over everyone else's bellas on their blogs all the time~i'll have my own to show off! i already have ideas floating in my head on what i'm going to create with them! i think i'll be nesting until they arrive~i'll have to clean and prepare my patisserie so they'll have their own special spot on my scrap shelf. my anticipation, of their arrival, grows hour by hour! i'll keep you posted! thanks (for your congratulations) in advance!
abrazos,
bella

good afternoon, all! i've been adding more ctmh sister blogs today! check out the list~it's growing! go take a look at their sites too!

tip of the day

did you know you can use your brayer to smooth the bubbles out of your projects if you're using liquid glue/glue stick on them(like b&t papers on chipboard coasters)? it will also help keep warping to a minimum. so go ahead and give it a try! (i got that idea from barbi eakin in my cropping chicks-ut group).
happy crafting!

4 down 4 to go!(phase 1 of card swap)

ciao all!
i've been busy, busy, busy! i've been working really hard on the "lunchbox card swaps". i finished two of them lastnight but i didn't get to post them. i'm pretty pleased with how the first four turned out! in the pics you can see three of them. i have to take more pics to show you all eight when i'm done. all of the cards have to be 3x3(which is totally kewl because you only need to use one 12x12 sheet of cardstock) and it's an 8/7 swap. i'm really stoked! they're actually cute to me(bunny really loved the two i got done lastnight~yippee)! i'm going back downstairs to work on the other four so i can get them mailed off by friday.
tell me what you think! thanks for looking!

27 May 2008

guess what i did

you're probably not even going to believe i did this, but i signed up for not one but two swaps with my ctmh sisters! one is due on 25 june, the other 1 august. i chose swaps that are relatively small so i won't get overwhelmed. i'm pretty stoked! one is a "lunchbox card swap" the other is an "atc swap". it's like i'm stoked and nervous all at the same time. sometimes i just never really feel confident my work is good enough to share. like i only post stuff at scs that i believe is good for others to look at( i suppose i do that here too). i hate that my pics are blurry because i'm using a cellphone camera or they have shadows because of the 3-d embellies on the scanner, but i know in person they're nice :0). it's also great to know my hubby thinks i'm talented~that's comforting and important because this is not a cheap hobby! lol!
sooo, i'm off to my patisserie to create my swap cupcakes! i'll try to post some pics before midnight. hope you all had a lovely holiday yesterday!

tip of the day

isn't it funny how you make little discoveries by accident and you think "why haven't i thought of that before now?" that happens to me a lot! lol! this tip is not necessarily from one of those moments, but i had to ask that :0)
so, have you ever had the problem of ink just not drying as fast as you'd like it to? well, i had that problem the other day making the card for skyy~sooo, i got my heat embossing tool and lightly blew it across the ink to dry it so i could finish the card without smearing the black ink on the vellum as i worked on other areas of the card. you can use this trick to dry your transparencies and vellum sheets you've printed on with an ink jet printer, too! hth someone!

happy memorial day!

today is truly a day of remembrance for our family. we will go out to the graves of our loved ones to place flowers. i always say something within myself to the person to let them know how missed they are. we have several veterans in our family, so it's a time to think of all of them, too(though some have not passed). i hope you all will have a peaceful day and hopefully you'll remember our fallen soldiers in your prayers.

i'm so excited! i made this little box today! i learned from a tutorial on splitcoaststampers! it's the "peek-a-boo" box from the try a new technique thread. i used grey flannel cardstock, black ink and romantic backgrounds stampset. i filled it with a small pearl necklace to give skyy today at her shower~i believe every woman should have pearls on her wedding day. i'm sorry i neglected to take a picture of the inside(peek-a-boo part) before i tied the bow on. let me know what you think, anyway! thanks for looking!

bling: red sparkles
rub-on: stampin' up! love birds

tip of the day

ohhhh my goodness! i learned the most awesome thing today! did i tell you all i watch scrapbook memories tv everyday on byu channel 68 on directv(if you decide to sign up for directv make sure you mention my name so we can both get $50(tee hee) i have it because i'm addicted to the former nbc soap passions~well, among other things. lol)? i am not sure what other stations scrapbook memories tv comes on(maybe pbs), but you can totally check the website for stations in your area that carry the show (there are also recipes and instructions for the projects created in each segment that were shown on the show). anyway, i learned the most awesome and neat/tidy way to emboss metal sheets of paper. what you do is take your embossing template, place the metal sheet over it with the shiny side touching the template, then you take a little ball of waxed paper and roll it over the template so the embossed image shows up and so you don't scratch the metal paper . then, for added depth/dimension, you go over the image with your stylus to make it really pop! turn it over and put it on your layout/card! i tell you, i love, love, love that show!

6-a-day

nope, this post has nothing to do with the amount of glasses of water you should drink or servings of fruits and vegetables you should eat everyday! lol! that's the number of my ctmh sisters' blogs i'm visiting daily. it goes way too fast! all of their blogs are so lovely! what a talented group of crafters! you have to go see! just click on the links at the end of my blog!
well, sadly i'm down to 2 more days~i only have 12 more blogs to visit this weekend. then i'll have to start over again! i hope you will visit them and post comments so they know they(and their work) are appreciated! as wilford brimley would say "check 'em and check 'em often."(tee hee :0)

the tale of the virus scan and dr's appt.

i know, i know~i haven't posted in like two days!!!! well, let me tell you why.
okay, so let's rewind to wednesday~
i totally wanted to post a tip of the day and a pic of something i have been working on, but obviously that didn't happen! early that afternoon i had been posting comments on my ctmh sisters' blogs and checking email and the computer seemed to be going slow because of a lot of virus scan updates that kept popping up. around 1745( mst), i decided to do a virus scan just to make sure there wasn't anything on the computer. well, i thought by around 1900/1930 it would be done, no such luck! it didn't get done until after 0230 thursday morning! i had been waiting for it to get done, but it took forever (i didn't want to post during the scan because it totally slows the computer to try to do things while it's running) so i finally had to go to bed around 0230 because i had a dr. appt. on thursday(and i had to get up early to drive bunny to work) .
fast forward through my sleeping~
so i finally dragged myself out of bed around 0700(well, bunny awakened me at 0556 but i told him i didn't need to get up until 7). so, after the morning routine, we drove to salt lake to get bunny to work then i took the car. well, you know how gas prices are so i didn't drive all the way back home to wait for it to be time for my dr. appointment. after getting a bite to eat at burger king, i left salt lake city and went over to heartland paper co. in bountiful to pick up my quickutz squeeze(a pink one, of course!). i put it on hold the afternoon before when i got the email that they're having sizzlin' summer deals! and you're never going to guess what they're on sale for there~$29.99! i know, no freakin' way, right?! that's what i said! anyway, this totally makes up for me not being able to go to the quickutz booth at the utah valley women's expo. i also got a dress die for $2.99(their $6.99 dies are on sale for $3.99 and if i remember correctly their $12.99 dies are $7.99), a few little things to work on emerson's scrapbook with, and the squeeze cushion for $1.99. i was so grateful bunny gave me a little allowance $ on wednesday night! so, after my fun time at heartland i stayed at mom and dad's to pass the time, catch up with dad and rest.
my dr's appt. was at 1630 so i left mom and dad's early so i could stop off at bed bath and beyond to get a wedding gift for my darling nephew and his sweet wife to be. i arrived at the office way early(like 1553) and wouldn't you know they didn't get me into an exam room until 1650 and of course i had to pick bunny up at 1700! i was totally hoping it was one of those days he'd have to finish up a last minute embalming or something(no such luck~he was waiting for over an hour for me :0( ) ! well, who knew there would be a shortage of rooms and that's why it took so long for them to get me back there? let's see, then, i had to have some tests and a blood test that was a bit painful~my veins love to pop and roll and evidently the phlebotomist didn't quite recognize that(though i mentioned it to her before i pulled up my sleeve) and kept pushing the needle in harder and harder! finally she decided to find another vein and that went much better(yippee i got the hot pink bandage stuff)! bless the lord i don't have phlebitis today! so i have to go to a specialist~i'll keep you posted on what is exactly wrong. so anyway, that's why i didn't post yesterday either!
good to be back, though! keep a look out for the rest of the day, i'll be back with more to share!

tip of the day

do you have trouble setting conchos? well, get these items together: a push pad, a good quality popsicle stick, and a good hard surface~then you should be well on your way to setting conchos. here are step by step instructions for you:
1. place your paper over the push pad.
2. decide where you'd like to place your concho.
3. press your concho into your paper in the desired area.
4. move push pad aside and flip your paper over so the ring of the concho is flat on your table/mat/hard surface.
5. take your popsicle stick and fold each of the little teeth toward the center to "clench" the paper.
6. if you're having a rough day, just take your eyelet setting hammer and smash the teeth down~be careful not to rip/tear your paper with your agression, though! :0)

19 May 2008

i baked more than chiffon cupcakes over the weekend!

here are three "cupcakes" i worked on over the past week and finished on saturday evening. yes, i confess, i'm addicted to the silhouette creative basics paper and ribbon! the card to the left is the one i made for bunny ( on the outside it says 'you know what's so great about this card?' on the inside it reads 'it's so much easier to open than a silly ol' present! happy birthday!'). the card in the middle is for my sil, melanie. the last card is for my bil, kirk(on the outside it says 'you know you're over the hill when "happy hour" means nap time!' on the inside it says 'happy birthday!').
i was also busy baking a chocolate chiffon cake and cupcakes(from alton's recipe) for bunny's birthday on saturday~i'll be making the homemade ice cream tomorrow, we ran out of eggs with the cake and cupcakes. i also made his favorite enchiladas(it's so great to make him the authentic recipes! i know the way to his heart is through his belly). i believe he and his belly had a happy birthday! and he loved my birthday card too!
well, i hope you like these little cupcakes! let me know what you think.

tip of the day

have you seen yellowing on some of your acrylic stamps? one of the most important things to remember, to minimize yellowing on your stamps, is to keep them out of direct sunlight and from extreme heat. store your stamps in a cool, dry, dark place to help preserve the crystal clear appearance of your new unused stamps.

16 May 2008

sneakity snake

i snuck into my scraproom and "baked" this little cupcake (today) during my brief hiatus, from my blog, with my darling hubby. he was sleeping so i just ran downstairs and finished it up. i've been working on it since like monday night. i learned how to make this "faux tile card" from a tutorial at stampin' academy
you're probably wondering which colors i used~desert sand, chocolate, colonial white and bamboo for ink, paper, and ribbon(grosgrain and organdy). i also used silver brads, alfresco my acrylix(tm) stamp set and pop dots for the 3-d effect. i am in love with this type of card now! this card is a graduation card i made for my friend arthur to send his good friend for her graduation from law school. let me know what you think!

14 May 2008

tip of the day

how many of you have the (fairly new) paint brushes and texture tools that ctmh now offers? you really want to try to clean them while they're still wet. it's really tough to clean them once they're stuck with dried paint on them. so here's a great way to clean them: you want to clean them with a little solution of equal parts of warm water, alcohol, and baby shampoo/bath(you don't want to use a lot, maybe 1/8c each). swish your brushes around in the solution, rub any debris off onto a soft cloth(or your double scrubber's removable side), rinse with cool water, and finally shake your brushes out and let them dry on a folded towel so any water can be absorbed and not rust your metal bristle holder. please do not leave them just standing in water~you don't want wood-rot or rust on your brushes. let me know how this works for you.

ciao for now

i wanted to let you all know that today may be my last day posting on my blog until monday 19 may 2008. my hubby has a four day weekend starting tomorrow and i'd rather spend those days with him(especially since saturday is his birthday), rather than being online posting to my blog(he works ten days on four days off, but he doesn't always get the four days consecutively). i hope you all will have a lovely weekend!

tip of the day

do you have one of these? it's an adhesive remover. did you know that it will remove residue from old stickers too? try it sometime when you want to remove adhesive residue from your fingers, your tools, your mats, your windows/walls if the goo gone is too much for you!

12 May 2008

guess what!

i'm going around to all of my ctmh sisters' blogs and leaving comments on their pages! you should too, they're all so talented and creative! let me know if you go on that quest too!

use baby shampoo or baby bath to clean your double scrubber pad~it's gentle and it smells nice!

a standard criss cross card

i love this card(i learned this technique from a tutorial by nancy hatcher)! it reminds me of something for a black tie affair. as you can see i used the silhouette creative basics paper packet and black stitched ribbon. i also used red and clear sparkles, paper piercing, ink distressing, corner rounder scalloping, a white daisy button and big pinks white daisy " just blooms". i just adore my close to my heart papers and accessories. let me know what you think! thanks for looking!

what's in a name?

i bet some of you are wondering how i came up with the name for my blog. well, it goes back to 28 april 2008 while i was contemplating creating a blog. i had the television on and i was watching good eats on the food network(everyone that truly knows me, knows i'm a baking/cooking diva and i loooove getting recipes off of the food network~bam!) the show was on chiffon cupcakes and alton gave the names of cupcakes in different languages just before going to a commercial break~ kleiner kuchen(german/deutche), petit gateau(french/francais), and pastel (spanish/espanol). i kept those in mind, since i love knowing things in other languages, especially when it comes to cooking/baking. so as i sat at my computer, i went around and around in my mind with ideas about starting a blog and what would i name it and so on and so forth. finally it hit me that with my love of baking and creating scrapbooking/stamping projects i should just call my blog bella's petit gateaux! my art projects are truly my little cakes, my cupcakes, my good things wrapped in a small package! so there you have it, that's what's in the name! well, if you're interested in recipes from the episode that alton brown made the chiffon cupcakes, it's the honey i shrunk the cake episode. happy baking and creating!

more mother's day spoilers

i recently purchased a from me to you kit from another ctmh consultant (lovely, sweet, lisa merrill) to make the cards for my mil to give her for mother's day. here are a few of the cards i've created with the kit. this kit is awesome! it was a ctmh promotion in september. it's a kit of 16 cards with envelopes and a special stampset along with the mini exclusive ink pads, brads, pop dots, pre-cut paper and ribbon to complete the sixteen cards. the instructions are easy to follow and easy to tweak with your own spin on the cards. it's the perfect kit to put together and give someone~i'm sure that's why they called it from me to you. let me know what you think!

tip of the day

do you have trouble punching holes for brads? try this the next time you have to set brads~ stick your black foam pad underneath the paper/item you're punching the hole in for the brad then insert the brad into the hole until it's firmly in the pad and remove the paper then bend the brad legs back to secure it! i have a push pad(tm) that works great for this!

10 May 2008

tip of the day

did you know that, if you don't feel like taking out the removable side of your double scrubber, you can spritz it with my acrylix(tm) spritz cleaner and use a dry swiffer cloth to clean it?! it worked for me and with the white daisy ink too!

grazie, thanks, danke, merci

here are some "thank you" cards i created recently with the silhouette creative basics paper. i also used some just blooms autumn daisy white daisies a clear sparkle and a bamboo bigger brad. the rub-ons are not by ctmh. i did my usual ink distressing and that's about it. let me know what you think. thanks for looking!

another mother's day card

i'm disappointed in the resolution of this pic~i took it like 4 times! but here's another mother's day card i made. it is a scrunched flower made with the promise of spring paper pack. the pearl and bigger brad didn't come from ctmh. let me know what you think!

tip of the day

did you know that keeping your markers lying flat is better for them than standing them up in a cup/holder? i use a little stackable pencil box to store mine so the ink doesn't run out.

08 May 2008

more mother's day spoilers

finally! i'm done with a couple of the cards i started working on last saturday at the crop. i'm known to talk more than work at crops. lol! you may not recognize this paper, it was offered by close to my heart as a special project pack with a stamp set during the heart of winter promotion. it's the promise of spring paper. when i saw it at the warehouse sale i had to have it! i got a couple of packets~for $1 a pop, you can't beat that! the stamp set is my acrylix (tm) joyeux occasion( it's retired, though). let me know what you think of the cards. thanks for looking!
abrazos,
bella

tip of the day

have you ever received a package from close to my heart? you know the foam wrapping around the ink pads, font cd's, etc.? you should save that to use under your large stamps when you have a lot of people over for a crop/workshop so you don't have to all share the one that comes in the stamp set packages.

06 May 2008

what a weekend!

well, i haven't told you that i'm agoraphobic (yes, i know, what a major complication when you're a scrapbook consultant, right?! lol!). well, in order to work on my anxiety, i pushed myself to the limits and went to two women's expos this past weekend. on friday i went to the what a woman wants show and saturday i went to the utah valley women's expo. they were both so fun! i received a pearl necklace on both days! the close to my heart warehouse sale, at the utah valley expo, was awesome! there were tons of things for 90% off! and i picked up some new jane iredale mineral make-up at the what a woman wants show. i totally found a way to curb my anxiety by focusing on my mission~friday it was to be one of the first 2,000 people to receive a pearl necklace courtesy of overstock.com and saturday it was to find some stamp sets and other retired items i wanted from ctmh. needless to say, i haven't really done any "baking" for a few days. my hubby was off work on sunday and monday so we did lots of housework and bonding. we even went grocery shopping yesterday for like over 2 hours( you can get soooo lost in everything at super walmart!). i love the days he has off and we just bond and have fun together. this past weekend was wonderful, yet very tiring!
so, now i'm off to my scrapbooking room (a.k.a. patisserie de belle) to finish my mother's day projects and some other cards for graduations that are coming up. keep a look out for pics!
i hope you had a lovely weekend and your week started off well. ciao for now!
abrazos,

tip of the day

i love using goo gone to get adhesive off of my crafting tools. i don't know about you but i always seem to get adhesive on my mats, bone folder, fingers, and other things. so i decided to use the goo gone one day to clean my mat and i loved it! it can be a little oily so make sure you use a swiffer/paper towel(cotton balls work well too) to apply the goo gone, rinse the item with hot water then dry before using it again. it works really well! let me know if you try it.

tip of the day

if you misplace your double scrubber, you can apply my acrylix (tm) spritz cleaner directly to your inked stamp and wipe it of with a dry swiffer cloth.
